Thank you, voters of District 5. Again, you have shown your support for my leadership, representing you on the school board. We ran a respectful and courteous race, as you would expect from your trustee. I respect my opponents, Claudia Fowler and Daphane Edmond, for challenging me, holding me accountable for my work on the board. I invite them to join me in my continued efforts to improve the schools in District 5.

There is still more to accomplish. I will continue to work towards higher student achievement, lower dropout rates, effective teachers and administrators, and better financial accountability. We are striving for every school in District 5 to be rated Recognized or Exemplary the Texas Education Agency.

I can not do this alone. Our students need the best teachers and administrators for their schools. Parents must become more involved in their child’s school. Community members will be needed to provide even greater support for our students and schools. We must encourage business partnerships for our schools.

My three children have graduated from Dallas ISD, with the knowledge and skills to earn college degrees. Now, it is time for my grandchildren to start school in Dallas ISD. I the best quality education for all children, as I do for my own grandchildren.

I am humbled by your support. Thank you, Dallas ISD District 5.
