Giving Thanks for All Things Always

In the United States, since the autumn of 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag celebrated the colony’s first successful harvest at the Plymouth Plantation, we have taken time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude on the fourth Thursday of November, which is also American Indian Heritage Month.

For many of us, Thanksgiving is usually a time for feasting with family and friends, football games, parades, family gatherings, and a festive segue to Christmas festivities.

In the spirit of the original celebration, it may also be a time to give thanks for our schools, and those responsible for educating our students.

Giving Thanks

  • Parents give thanks for respectful, caring, and well-mannered children.
  • Children give thanks for fair, caring, and concerned teachers.
  • Teachers give thanks for a responsible, caring, and professional principal.
  • Principals give thanks for a trustworthy, caring, and effective superintendent.
  • The superintendent gives thanks for concerned, caring, and collaborative board trustees.
  • The Board trustees gives thanks for a cooperative, caring, and empowered community.
  • The community gives thanks for enthusiastic, caring, and effective school district staff.

Thanks for caring about Dallas ISD.

In everything, I give thanks for the opportunity to serve on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees, representing the various communities in District 5.  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Happy Thanksgiving!
